Oh Merlin. My sister Isobel just phoned - apparently she's setting me up on a blind date - and she wanted to know whether I preferred blondes or brunettes. Can you believe that? My own sister! I thought that I would be safe around her but evidently not. Just because she's got back together with her boyfriend and is no longer sleeping on my sofa does not mean that she can try and set me up with every Tom, Dick and Harry, or in this case Calum or John. Plus, last time I dated a Muggle things didn't end well at all. If I'm charged with sororicide please tell them that she deserved it. | | Wednesday, March 19th, 2008 | | 9:57 am |
Michael! I was looking through an old box of photos and look what I found! ( Photos under cut )I can't even remember when those were taken. | | Sunday, March 16th, 2008 | | 5:10 pm |
Apparently, I am going to be an aunt. Which is terrifying great - I'm so happy for Síne and John, they've been trying for a baby for such a long time and I know that they're going to make fantastic parents. But I'm the oldest so shouldn't I be the one having children first?
I think that I need to have a drink or six. | | Monday, March 10th, 2008 | | 7:18 pm |
Some of the world's most famous writers were known to have kept journals. Sylvia Plath, for example, kept journals from the age of eleven until her death at thirty. One of the best selling Muggle books of all time is a journal - The Diary of Anne Frank. Now, I am not in any way attempting to compare myself with the incomparable Plath or indeed Anne Frank, however, if a journal is good enough for them then I'm sure it is more than good enough for myself and everyone else. I suppose it is a good way to organise one's thoughts and it is easier to analyse events without emotion getting the better of you when everything is written down.
I suppose that it is at this point that I must talk about myself and what has been happening in my life. Work is, as it always is, going well. My flat is a little busier than it usually is, something which is caused, of course, by the additional occupant currently sleeping in my spare room. It has been rather pleasant to have Isobel around, even if our work hours completely clash and we very rarely see each other for long periods of time, it does somewhat remind me of being back at Hogwarts. Only, this time, I've chosen the person I would like to live with and I don't have to actually share a room with her.
On a completely random note. What on earth is going on with this weather? We've had sun, snow and rain all in a fortnight. I suppose that is part and parcel of living in Scotland but still, it does make me wonder if we, as a nation, should perhaps create some sort of anti-rain dance, or simply just relocate to the Australian outback?
Finally, today's word of the day is: Chicanery: Trickery or deception by quibbling or sophistry. | | Friday, March 7th, 2008 | | 9:02 am |
